Launching of Bhabhatron-II by President of Malawi H.E. Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera

President of Malawi H.E. Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera officially launched Bhabhatron-II cancer treatment machine gifted by India to Malawi today at National Cancer Centre, Lilongwe.

2. During his visit to Malawi in November 2018, then Hon’ble Vice President Shri Venkaiah Naidu annouced gifting of state-of-the-art cancer therapy machine - Bhabhatron-II and Digital Radio Therapy Simulator (IMAGIN) to the people of Malawi. Bhabhatron-II was symbolically handed over to Government of Malawi during the State visit of Hon’ble President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu in October 2024.

3. President Chakwera thanked the Government and the people of India for the advance cancer treatment machine and also the continued support to Malawi.

4. In his remarks, High Commissioner H.E. Shri S. Gopalakrishnan detailed the versatility of the Indian designed and developed Bhabhatron-II. He further stated that India and Malawi have very strong development partnership particularly in health sector. He also highlighted that “ India’s development cooperation is deeply rooted in the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam which means the ‘World is one Family’ and the development partnership with Malawi has always been guided by the needs and priorities of Government of Malawi”.
