The 79th Independence Day of India was celebrated in Lilongwe with a flag-hoisting ceremony on 15 August, 2025 at the High Commission premises.

High Commissioner of India, H.E. Mr. Amararam Gujar, hoisted the tricolor, which was followed by singing of the National Anthem. Thereafter, the High Commissioner read out the address of the Hon’ble Rashtrapatiji to the nation on the eve of the 79th Independence Day. A cultural programme by the members of the community was also organised.

The celebration was attended by members of Indian Community and friends of India enthusiastically in large number.

The Chancery premises was decorated with tricolor to commemorate the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. Community members and the Mission officials family members actively took part in “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign by uploading their selfies shot in the Selfie Booth installed at the mission.
