High Commission organised India-Malawi Business Seminar to discuss the ways of strengthening trade & business between  and . The deliberation was held in identifying complementaries and synergies in the potential areas for collaboration :-

2. ⁠Renewable Energy
3. ⁠Pharma and Healthcare
4. ⁠Minerals and mining
5. ⁠Engineering goods & machinery
6. ⁠Digital public infrastructure

High Commissioner H.E Mr. Amararam Gujar highlighted the importance of Government of India’s Duty Free Tariff Preference (DFTP) scheme which can be fully availed by Malawi to boost it’s exports
• India@2047 and Malawi@2063 share the common vision to make India as developed nation (Upper Income country) by 2047 while Malawi as Upper Middle Income country by 2063 when both countries would be celebrating their 100th anniversary of their independence
• ⁠Govt of India’s major structural economic reforms viz. GST 2.0, IBC, Financial inclusion through UPI, JAM Trinity, etc.

Principal Secretary for Trade and Industry Ms Christina Zakeyo underlined Government of Malawi’s ATMM (Agriculture, Tourism, Mining and Manufacturing) strategy to revitalise its economy. Knowledge Partner E&Y Country Managing Partner Mr Chiwemi Chihana made a strong pitch for attracting investment in mining, healthcare, pharma and agriculture while Malawi Chamber of Commerce and Industry CEO Ms Daisy Kambalame encouraged MCCCI’s members to take a lead in business activities.
Approx 75 business people including bankers, CEOs/MDs and GMs from across sectors participated in the event.
