High Commission of India in partnership with University of Malawi (UNIMA) organised “India Dialogue” in Zomba. The event focused on India's growing strategic role in the Global South including Africa, its economic transformation path to become developed nation by 2047 through unleashing its full potential. Event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of scholars, academia, think-tanks, senior government officials, industry experts and UNIMA students & faculty. Key figures include High Commissioner of India to Malawi H E Mr. Amararam Gujar, Principal Secretary (equivalent to Secretary in GoI) in Ministry of Foreign Affaires H.E. Dr Bright Molande, Prof Samson Sajidu, Vice Chancellor of UNIMA, Mayor, Deputy Mayor & CEO of Zomba City Council, etc.
High Commissioner highlighted India as a crucial & reliable partner for Global South in their quest to boost sustainable development and economic growth. Principal Secretary in MOFA underscored India-Malawi’s time tested partnership while Vice Chancellor Prof Samson Sajidu and key note speaker Dr Gift Kayira from UNIMA emphasised on India’s emergence as key player in international order and a leader in Global South. Another key note speaker Dr T. Molokwane from KwaZulu-Natal University (S.A) underscored the historic relations between India and Malawi  and outlined complementaries and synergies between India@2047 and Malawi@2063 for their shared vision to become developed nation by 2047 and upper middle-income country by 2063 respectively. Long live India and Malawi friendship.
