The High Commission of India, Lilongwe celebrated the Festival of Lights - Diwali on 28th October, 2025 at India House in festive fervour. The event witnessed the gracious presence of dignitaries & senior functionaries from the Government of Malawi, Heads of diplomatic Missions, Representatives/High-ranking officials from UN & International organizations, members of the Indian diaspora, friends of India, social media influencers, and media personalities. Hon'ble Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malawi H.E Dr. George Chaponda, M.P. graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. His presence underscored the strong bond of friendship and shared cultural values between India and Malawi.

A magnificent and mesmerising performance of traditional Ghoomar dance, music and folklore by the visiting 10-member Rajasthani cultural troupe(Balam Chhoto So) led by Mr Sardar Rana was the main attraction of the Diwali celebration at India House.
The cultural troupe truly showcased the India's rich cultural heritage and timeless traditions which projected India’s soft power and cultural diplomacy in Malawi.
