Celebration of 75th Independence Day of India

The 75th Independence Day was celebrated at the Chancery on 15th August 2021.  High Commissioner hoisted the national flag and read out the text of President's address to the nation.


2.  Due to Covid pandemic and restrictions imposed by the local government on public gatherings, a limited number of prominent members of the diaspora and representatives from various Indian community associations and Media were invited.  While around 80 guests were attended the event in person, a large number of Indian community participated in the event through Mission's Face Book page virtually.   On the occasion, videos on 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' shared by the Ministry and ICCR were also shown.


3. Later in the evening, as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, High Commission of India in association with Indian Country Club and Indian Community Forum in Lilongwe organized a sports event.
